This was a play with lots of paint techniques
and I know there is loads more to come. |
Hi there I have a lot to say but will focus on one day in the life of Sam for now. I am just going to show you my projects that I made at the weekend when I did a few Taster Classes at Art from the Heart. You are only allowed to do two classes at the open day, which is very reasonable as the classes are very cheap, and are a taster so you can see which classes you might like to book in the future. I already do Journal classes with Dyan Reaveley which are great. So I was left with another three teachers, Michelle Webb, Sandra and Kate Crane - I already knew how good Michelle is because after a couple of hours in her own craft room with her it sent me off on a completely different crafting path! and she is a friend, so I definitely wanted to do Michelle's class. So I was torn between Sandra, who I didn't know much about and have not seen a lot of her work, and Kate, who's work I have seen a lot of and love it all. But my answer was given to me anyway, there was only space on Sandra's class. So I did my two classes which I really enjoyed then said goodbye to Dyan and Michelle and everyone. Walked outside and started to talk to a few ladies who I had met earlier in the day, and Let me slip in - I met Jools who I had been talking to on FB for some time now - she is lovely and it was great to meet her. I also met Anne Johnson and Sue from Surrey Crafts.

ATC's with Sandra from AFTH Not yet finished. |
So anyway I had left the building !!! Than one of the ladies said are you going to try and get in on Kate's class? Oh no I said I already tried it but they said its full. But it hasn't started yet so why not hang around in case someone doesn't turn up????So anyway the upshot is I bagged myself a spot in Kate's class too. I did confess that I had already done two!! I am grateful to Kathleen who came along with me too for waiting around for an extra hour for me. Well I tell you what doing Kate's class was the fastest hour I have ever known!!! When they said that was the end I honestly thought it must have been cut to just half an hour! Paint see, I love paint and I love to learn any techniques with it that I can. So any way I had a great day.
Then to top it off, while I was there My phone started to ping, it was Paula Whittaker - her post said "was that your card I have just seen on Create & Craft with Barbara Gray"? and another complimentary comment from Lisa P MacGregor confirming that it was. Well how can you top a day like that???

Part of Mini Book with Michelle Webb |
See I honestly believe that if you attend classes with good teachers and take them seriously you really can "up your game" Its like going to college for crafters isn't it! This year I have been so lucky and done some fantastic classes with teachers I look up to and whose work I admire, like all the above, I did a great two day workshop with Barbara Gray, I already do classes with Maria Simms and Annette Lee and at the end of the month I have a two day work shop coming up with Hels Sheridan too which I will tell you all about after the event. So if you love crafting and want to up your game I suggest you get out there and do some studying!!!

Mini Book made with Michelle Webb |
So on with the Eye Candy - Bet you are glad I kept this one short and sweet ?????? I do try honestly and if you get bored half way through you can always "speed read" or skip to the end? But if you did read to hear well done, you have a lot of stamina.
So my TV card on In the Classroom with Barbara Gray !
All comments are appreciated but not totally necessary I know you are a busy lot!!
Bye for now, Sam x

ReplyDeleteWow - lucky you! Sounds like a fantastic day! Can you suggest to all these wonderful teachers that Sydney, Australia is JUST WAITING for them to come and visit - they'd have lots of crafters clammering for a spot!
ReplyDeleteHi Helen, I will suggest it to them but only if they let me carry their bags!!
